Homefires Lamp woven from Dyed Cane, Willow, Wire and Driftwood
This contemporary lamp was designed for a project illustrating the theme “What does HOME mean”. I took inspiration from the fireside, the cosy feeling of the open fire and of gathering together with loved ones. In this lamp I try to evoke the sentiment behind the wartime classic “Keep the home-fires burning” by Ivor Novello.
It is woven with hand dyed cane, mixed willows and coloured wire, onto a driftwood base, and sculpted to represent a flame of burning colours and sizzling heat. When illuminated the warmth and glow of the fireside emerges, scattering light around the room.
