The COM230 offers a long and flexible gooseneck microphone with a solid, sturdy base station. Here you will also find the 2-zone (2x30W) amplifier, each channel of which offers plenty of power to drive up to 2 x 8ohm or 4 x 16ohm speakers.
The amplifier offers plenty of flexibility too – you can wire the speakers as regular mono outputs, operate them as Stereo L+R or separate them into 2 distinct ‘zones’. This option allows you to split your speakers between two locations, making the COM230 perfect for small businesses or spaces with two main areas, such as an office and reception or a retail outlet with a storefront and staff area.
Though the main purpose of the COM230 is as a paging announcement system, the inclusion of a volume-controllable AUX port on the rear allows stereo-line devices such as laptops, phones or radios to be connected via a 3.5mm jack cable for background music playback.
The main volume control on the base unit sets the mic level with a pre-set override (what is commonly known as ‘priority’) that will temporarily mute the AUX input when an announcement is being made.
The paging process involves selecting one or both output channels via the buttons on the top panel and then pressing the “Page” button, which gives the option of paging just a single area or all areas where the speakers are installed. A simple and easy-to-use solution for where space is limited or an uncomplicated paging system is required.
